In 2003, I released a single called “High Flyin’,” that went Top 10 for the year on R&R. Michael Schivo, the promoter, liked it, and invited me to perform at the 2004 festival.
Maceo Parker — Having gotten his “official” start with the late, great “Godfather of Soul,” James Brown, before branching out with, first, George Clinton and later Bootsy Collins’ Rubber Band, funk maestro, Maceo Parker, is definitely a legend in his own right. In addition to his revered solo works, throughout the years Parker has collaborated with some of the biggest names in showbiz; including, Ray Charles, Ani Difranco, James Taylor, De La Soul, Dave Matthews Band and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, to name some.
